A wedding invitation arrives, and the wardrobe questions begin. How formal is the venue? Will the ceremony be outdoors? What works for a coastal wedding in October? And what about the rehearsal dinner?
For a stylist, those questions are an opening to do what you do best: bring the details together and help a client feel confident about what she’s wearing.
This week’s Stylist Social Pack: Dress Code—Fall Wedding explores six wedding settings, each with its own approach to color, texture, silhouette, and accessories. Use the full carousel to introduce the conversation, or share individual looks that speak to your clients’ upcoming plans.

The City Wedding
A city wedding calls for a look that moves comfortably from the ceremony to cocktails afterward. Clean silhouettes, a little shimmer, and thoughtfully chosen accessories create a polished feeling while leaving room for the client’s personality.
Start with a strong shape, then consider what finishes it: an interesting earring, a beautiful bag, or a shoe that gives the outfit a little more presence. For clients who prefer understated dressing, this is an opportunity to show how a few details can make familiar simplicity feel occasion-ready.
Conversation starter: “Have a city wedding coming up? Let’s find a look that takes you from the ceremony through the last toast.”

The Estate Wedding
Gardens, old architecture, and candlelit tables provide a romantic setting for painterly florals, beautiful color, and accessories with personality.
Help your client find her own expression of that romance. She might love an expressive print, or she may feel more comfortable letting a special accessory bring interest to a quieter outfit. Consider the practical details, too: a garden ceremony may call for a shoe that handles grass or gravel, while an evening reception may require a layer she’ll be happy to keep on.
Conversation starter: “An estate wedding on your calendar? Let’s find something that feels as special as the setting.”

The Vineyard Wedding
A vineyard setting offers a beautiful starting point for rich color. Wine-inspired shades, soft neutrals, and fabrics with movement feel at home among the vines and in golden-hour light.
This is also a chance to make the finishing pieces part of the appointment. A wrap or jacket deserves consideration alongside the outfit, especially when the celebration moves from a sunny ceremony into a cooler evening. Show the complete combination so your client can picture how she’ll wear it throughout the day.
Conversation starter: “Send me the invitation. We’ll find the colors, layers, and finishing touches for an evening among the vines.”

The Coastal Wedding
Coastal celebrations invite soft color, interesting texture, and accessories that feel light and special. The invitation’s dress code will guide the level of formality, while the waterfront setting gives you room to explore a fresh palette.
For a client traveling to the wedding, widen the conversation to her suitcase. What else is planned? Could an accessory work for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception? Does she have a layer for the breeze? Helping her connect the weekend’s outfits makes the packing process easier and gives each piece a clear purpose.
Conversation starter: “Going somewhere beautiful for a wedding this fall? Let’s plan what goes in the suitcase.”

The Black-Tie Wedding
A black-tie invitation can leave even a confident dresser unsure where to begin. Start with the event’s formal expectations, then explore the silhouettes that make your client feel most comfortable and assured.
A beautiful black silhouette, dramatic proportions, and a few carefully chosen accessories offer a strong visual direction. Consider the whole look together, including the evening bag, jewelry, shoes, and outer layer. Those decisions help a client arrive feeling fully prepared.
Conversation starter: “Black tie on the invitation? Bring it with you, and we’ll work through the whole look together.”

The Artistic Wedding
For a celebration with a creative point of view, bold color, painterly florals, and expressive accessories can make getting dressed part of the excitement.
Let your client’s taste lead. She may be drawn to an unexpected color combination, an interesting silhouette, or a statement piece she’s been waiting for a reason to wear. Build around that choice, giving the outfit enough balance for her favorite detail to stand out while respecting the invitation’s dress code.
Conversation starter: “Have somewhere fabulous to go? Let’s find a look with a little personality.”

Send Me the Invitation
The simplest invitation you can extend to a client is also the idea at the heart of this pack: “Send me the invitation.”
It gives her an easy next step and gives you useful information to begin styling. Ask about the venue, dress code, weather, and any other events on the itinerary. Find out what she already owns and loves, then help her identify what would complete the weekend.
A rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and Sunday brunch may each need a different approach. Your ability to connect those plans to a wardrobe is part of the service clients come back for.

Make the Pack Your Own
Post the full carousel for a range of fall wedding inspiration, or choose one destination to feature at a time. Use the accompanying captions as your starting point, adding your own voice and a clear invitation to contact you.
You can also send an individual image directly to a client who has mentioned an upcoming wedding. A personal note—“I remembered you have a vineyard wedding coming up, and this made me think of you”—connects the inspiration to a conversation you’ve already started.
